The PBTISD Police Department was created in August 2019 and is committed to providing the highest quality of police service to the citizens and our school district by aiding in the development and implementation of a well-defined plan to promote discipline and safety and to prevent drugs and violence on our campuses.

The Pecos-Barstow-Toyah I.S.D Police Department is a group of dedicated professional committed to support the district’s mission by providing service-oriented enforcement of the law, maintaining the peace and protecting our school community.

The department is comprised of 8 sworn peace officers and one staff member. All police officers of this department are licensed peace officers of the State of Texas. They have full arrest powers and all rights, privileges and immunities similar to municipal police officers.

Additionally, officers  work in conjunction with local law enforcement authorities and other related departments. The focus of all officers is to work as a positive influence on students and to protect the schools by providing a safe learning environment.

The jurisdiction of the PBTISD Peace Officers is all territory within the territory of the District that is owned, leased, or rented by or otherwise under the District’s control.

Yes, All PBTISD Police Officers are commissioned peace officers licensed by the State of Texas. They have full arrest powers and authority.

Can PBTISD Police Officers make arrests off campus?

Yes, PBTISD Police officers can arrest offenders of the law both on and off campus.

Can a PBTISD Police Officer issue me a traffic ticket?

Yes, PBTISD Police Officers are authorized to issue traffic citations. We have officers that monitor traffic violations.

What court do I go to if I get a ticket from a PBTISD police Officer?
If you receive a ticket from a PBTISD Police Officer, you will be required to appear in the appropriate Justice of the Peace Court.

What happens if I don’t pay my ticket?
If you do not appear in court or pay for fine, a warrant for your arrest may be issued by the court.

How do I report an incident to the PBTISD Police Department?

To report an incident occurring on school property or involving students, call the PBTISD Police Department @(432) 447-7202, Monday thru Friday. On call Police Officer after normal hours (5:00 pm – 7:00 am) Monday thru Friday and weekends (Saturday & Sunday) 24 hrs a day, Cell# (432)940-6271. Be prepared to give as much of the following information as possible!

What happened?
Where did it happen?
Did any injuries occur?
Were any weapons involved?
A description of the suspects.
A description of any vehicles involved.
