The Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD Board of Trustees announced last night its intentions to terminate the current inter-local agreement with the Town of Pecos City and Reeves County regarding the Reeves County Community Sports and Recreation Department.  The PBTISD Board of Trustees additionally authorized the Superintendent to contribute $200,000 towards the construction of a brand new recreation facility to the Town of Pecos City and Reeves County.  The District also offered to take responsibility of the construction of the facility by allowing the Superintendent to oversee all construction matters and procedures in accordance with state law.  Initial quotes requested by the District to construct the facility have shown that it will cost approximately $400,000 for a 100’ X 50’ X 24’ metal building including electrical and HVAC components.  The use of the racquetball court and all youth activities currently in place will not be affected.  The District would also like to inform the public that all District facilities are still available to the public if requested in accordance to District Policy.  The District invites the Town of Pecos City and Reeves County to come together so that this brand new recreational facility may be built as soon as possible.

Additionally, the Board of Trustees recognized the following individuals for their outstanding service during the Pecos River Event of 2014, Perry Putman, Tammy Walls, Jackie McNew, Sam Martinez, Omar Salgado, Frank Palomino, Jim Workman, Alicia Mitchell, Jerry Matta, Silver Ramirez, Jesus Ramirez, Tim Gilbert and Wayne North.  The District thanks these individuals for their dedication and commitment to the community by showing their Pecos Pride and going above and beyond their duties.
